E-Textbooks are definitely the new wave of the future. So are touchscreen flip phones. I work with Motorola and they've developed a new phone called the Krave (motorola.com/krave) that is a clear top flip phone that is narrower than the iPhone. Students would love it's convenience...

Head_Hunter

Thanks for the links! The new Krave (motorola.com/krave) can also save you some money buy combining multiple functionality into one cool design. It has a QWERTY keyboard and its narrower then the iPhone. It's a flip phone that has a clear top and its touch sensitive, so you can use your phone without even opening it!

Some friendly advice to the first and second years starting at Uni, from the old git (and it’s not your mother)
Well actually from a mature student.

Some of you will be excited about attending University for the first time and some of you may be returning, if you are a returning students, the ones that are entering your last year, you will not find this article of much use, but you can still read it if you wish, although I will be publishing a small article for the students who will be leaving soon, and entering the big bad world.

Its just a small note, to the first and second year students, the one how can’t wait to get back to uni, because you are stick to death of your family asking if you have had a good time, and are you remembering to look after yourself, or to the ones which are just looking forward to a have a pint again with there mates in the uni bar.

For the first timers, you will be inundated, with all, what you may think are all the pressures in the world, here some free advice, relax, sit back, don’t panic and take one step at a time. I can assure you that, all the one time special offers and free advice, will still be around in a couple of weeks, they want your money and attention just as much as everybody else, so take the driving seat and let them chase you.

You have got your house sorted or accommodation, some of your house mates, you will know and some you will not. Don’t be scared to suggest a house meeting regarding all the different areas, like paying bills and house rule, I am not going to tell you regarding all of them, use your common sense, have the meeting down the pub, or in the uni bar, but I would advise you to do it sooner than later, (trust me I have been there) and if and when things get out of control, you will regret not mentioning it at the meeting.

You will notice and see that the pub has been mentioned a lot, well things will not change there, one small bit of advice, but it not everybody’s cup of tea, after you have spent all your student loan in the first couple of weeks, (which is not recommended) try to find a local pub, which is closed to where you live, we use to call it the exam pub, which I think is the best description to give it.

When it gets to the time of the exams, this may be Christmas or not, we know for a fact, that you will want to find a so called exam pub, its a time where, you can just find time to get your head together before your exams, remember what I said, you are in the driving seat, so if you have a few mates, find a local and use it, they will want your business, just as much as the rest of the pubs put together.

Depending which uni you are attending, try to use all the facilities they offer, why is this, because we can guarantee you, these will be cheap, compared to the same facilities outside the uni, you have think that this was so obvious, but if you really get to grips of it, you may be sup prised what is available, it’s the small things, like free buses, not the ones that take you to the different part of the uni, but the free buses, that take you, all over the city, they may be free cinemas outside and inside the uni, free foods, free stationary goods, almost anything could be available, don’t be scared to ask.

We are not going to talk about the depressing items, like where do I find the talk help line, that stops me from topping myself or the student adviser that you have a talk with, because you are finding the course to hard, or you are worried that the universities blonde does fancy you, (make or female) or the time, you got so drunk in the uni bar, you can not remember if you did talk to the university blonde and if you did talk to the university, blonde, did you make a total ass of yourself, believe me, there always will be, which ever university you attend that university blonde, and there always be the that night or day, when you shouldn’t have.

My advice, get to the exam pub and have a chat about it, and if your mates take the Mickey, so what!!!, on very, very serious note, there are plenty of websites on the web, and in your uni, if things are getting too hard for you, but try not worry to much, this what university life is all bout, the good the bad and sometimes the bizarre.

Just a small bit of friendly advise, form a student how has been there, and still is, other wise have a great time and enjoy yourself.

P.s I nearly forgot to tell you, you must a least once go to the following website:
